After the recent collapse of the communist regime, the fictitious state of Fontania is in search of a new political order. The most urgent political aim next to maintaining peace and order in the period of transition is the creation of a constitution as the foundation of a new political order. Due to the ethnic and religious diversity of the country, questions of minority and autonomy rights, as well as questions concerning the role of religion have caused particularly intense debates at the first sessions of the constitutional assembly. A Round Table has been convened to focus on finding more specific regulations for the areas of minority rights, education, and religion. Political parties, representatives of the main religions and other civil society groups are invited to discuss the issue of constitutional protection of minority rights. The minority of the Luvanians is also represented – the Luvanians demand extensive autonomy rights and respect for their cultural identity.
